Gerald Chambers Obituary

Gerald T. Chambers, 86, passed away, peacefully on September 6, 2020, at Doctors West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born January 14, 1934, in West Jefferson, Ohio; the son of Eugene and Anna Rose (McDaniel) Chambers.

Gerald graduated from West Jefferson High School, Class of 1953. Following graduation, he worked with the Idaho Forest Service and proudly served in the U.S. Navy.

Gerald married Kathleen Rhoades on September 3, 1954, in Hilliard, Ohio, and they had three children: Joseph Eugene, William Thomas and Sue Ann. He was a hard worker and excellent provider, working as a Maintenance Supervisor for Anheuser Busch and RCA until retirement. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and could be found on many back roads of the United States throughout his lifetime. He was a history buff, storyteller, and loved his country - the good ole’ USA.

Gerald is survived by his children’s mother, Kathleen Chambers; his two sons, Joseph Chambers of Dresser, Wisconsin and William (Antje) Chambers of Plain City, Ohio; his daughter, Sue Chambers of Grove City, Ohio; and his sister, Norma Keller of Effingham, Illinois. He leaves behind five grandchildren: Julie (Matt) Snezik, Laura (Mark Rockhold) Chambers, Marissa (Joey Wilhelm) Lemon, Ryan Chambers, and Eric Chambers. There are also two great-grandchildren: Olivia Ruth and Madison AnnMarie, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends that he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, Eugene and Anna Rose Chambers, he was predeceased by his siblings: Clayton Eugene, Thelma Irene, Louella May, Ellis Oscar, Donald Edward, and Jack James.

A special thank you to his loyal neighbors who were there for him time and again, in various supportive ways.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on October 24, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Cremeens-King Funeral Home in Gallipolis, Ohio. Directly following will be an honored military salute at Old Walnut Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675 in Gerald’s memory.
