Because there are so many details and decisions associated with arranging a funeral, planning a funeral before the need arises can relieve loved ones of the responsibility of making arrangements at a time that can be difficult. Planning in advance can demonstrate love and consideration; most importantly, it provides peace of mind in knowing that all of the financial considerations have been addressed and that all of the decisions meet your wishes and needs. Pre-planning eliminates doubt.

Pre-planning services for yourself or for a loved one affords you the opportunity to select exactly the type of services you wish. Because all services and merchandise may be selected and paid for in advance, pre-planning can guarantee all selections at today's prices - potentially saving you and your family a substantial amount of money.

And addressing the many decisions in advance when you are emotionally and financially prepared to handle them just makes sense. It is a fiscally responsible approach for something so important; it is planning for you and your family's future.

Pre-planning a funeral is an excellent way to make sure that the type of service you want is permanently recorded and gives you an exact cost for that service. This is a thoughtful way to make sure your family knows your wishes, therefore relieving them of the burden of making hard decisions when the time of need arises. Prepaying a funeral allows you to lock in the cost of the funeral today so that your family will have no financial burden in the future.

There are two methods available to pre-pay for a funeral: a regulated funeral trust or a life insurance policy.

By pre-funding, you can guarantee the cost of your services.  Services can be pre-paid by cash, check or assignment of life insurance policies. Any funds pre-paid must be placed into an irrevocable funeral trust and invested within the strict guidelines set forth by the State of Ohio.

It may be necessary for the prearranged funeral contract to be termed as "Irrevocable" if the funeral recipient is applying to or is currently receiving Medicaid assistance. Making the contract irrevocable does not change what or how the Cremeens-King Funeral Homes will provide the services and merchandise at the time of need, but does revoke the right of the contract owner to "cash-in" their funeral prearrangement.
